Septic Tank Maintenance and Repair

When you have a septic tank, it is important to have it regularly maintained. When septic tanks go without a regular maintenance check up, they tend to fall into worse and worse conditions that compound the longer you wait. Over time, your septic tank will fill up. They are not designed to go years and years without being pumped out.
Think about a septic tank in the way you'd go about maintaining a car. You spend thousands on buying a car and it takes regular maintenance to keep it running. A septic tank is an investment as well and needs regular maintenance to keep performing well also. Give us a call and our technicians can come out to your property as soon as possible and give your tank its well deserved maintenance. Once we pump your tank, we will also make a note and give you a call when its time to get it cleaned again.
Is Cleaning My Septic Tank Annually Really Necessary?
Our team of thoroughly experienced experts recommend getting your tank pumped on an annual basis. This is the best course of action because of the large amount of sludge and debris that gets caught up in the tank and pipes leading to and from the building and drain field. When this sludge and debris becomes too much for the septic system to hold, the entire system fails. This is the last thing you want to deal with on a Friday afternoon when you're about to head out of town. With an annual pumping, you're taking the necessary steps to prevent a catastrophe like this and ensuring your system is functioning optimally.
How Do I Know When It Needs to Be Pumped?
There are steps you can take on your own to monitor your septic tank and keep an eye out for any signs of arising problems. The first is to check the drain field for any smells that would indicate something is wrong. These smells are caused by gasses building up in the septic system such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and methane. A properly-maintained septic tank should be odor-free. The second step to a self inspection is to check the sludge levels in the tank through the tank cover. Locate the outlet device in the tank and see if the levels are within 3 inches of the bottom of the device. If so, your tank needs to be pumped. Other parts of the system to check are the tank vent, lid, and alarm. These can be done by yourself, but it is always best to have a professional come and take a look.
